bayme Organizes Workshop on DemographyManagement

How are corporations dealing with the process of demographic change – that is to say, workforces that are becoming much older and the acute shortage of specialists? How can they safeguard efficiency and employability in the long term, reduce the number of days lost through sickness and their resulting costs and still pursue their productivity goals? What should be done to ensure that employees with physical restrictions can still contribute to the operating results and feel that they are full members of the workforce? The workshop entitled “DemographyManagement,” which is being held at the premises of Dehn + Söhne GmbH + Co. KG in Neumarkt/Oberpfalz on 19 September 2018, will provide some answers and examples of best practice scenarios. The major focus will be on the latest trends for work design, which take ergonomic issues into account.

The joint organizers of the workshop, which is geared towards specialists and managers in the fields of industrial engineering, production, human resources and management at Bavarian corporations, are the Employers’ Association for the Metalworking and Electrical Industries in Bavaria (bayme) and the Association of the Bavarian Metalworking and Electrical Industry (vbm). Christian Köstler, Managing Director of the bayme member corporation, Dehn + Söhne, and Anton Hauck from the Labor Science and Health and Safety Service Center at the vbm will open the event. The keynote lecture on “Standards for Shaping Demographic Change along the Value Chain” will be given by Knuth Jasker, Executive Director of Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. His guiding principle is: Having the right employee at the right workplace!

Michael Berschneider, Head of Industrial Engineering at Dehn + Söhne, will present methods for designing work at corporations so that ergonomic issues are taken into consideration. Those attending will then have the opportunity to get some idea of how design measures are implemented practically during a tour of the factory. The topic of the third lecture is the shortage of specialist workers and how this can be effectively tackled with highly efficient employees. The speaker is Markus Windisch from the bayme vbm Labor Science and Health and Safety Service Center. There will also be plenty of opportunities for those attending to share their own experiences.
